SOPHONT LINEAGES

Species

Two independently intelligent lineages share the same world and inherit very different physical, cognitive and social constraints.

Two evolutionary solutions

Intelligence does not converge on a human body plan.

The avian line concentrates cognition in highly capable individuals. The arthropod line can combine capable individuals with colony-scale information processing.

  • Avian strengths: vision, vocal communication, rapid aerial control and precision manipulation.
  • Arthropod strengths: modular anatomy, chemical communication, specialization and distributed logistics.
  • Both lineages must retain biological costs and constraints.
