Machines

Ancient minds. Living worlds.
A future still listening.

A science-fiction universe where archaeology uncovers the Latheons—an ancient civilization whose engineered refuges preserve knowledge, infrastructure, and continuity across half a million years. Beneath the Guadalupe Mountains, a dormant city begins to wake.

Deep Refuge Architecture

Expanded concept renderings for Refuge Node Alpha: discovery routes, buried habitats, living-field infrastructure, archives, fabrication systems, and deep transit.

Current canon

The Latheons. Continuity across deep time.

The builders are no longer an unnamed precursor culture. Their civilization survives through engineered refuges and living-field persons whose identity remains individual and continuous.

The Temple Machines series

Four books. A larger truth.

The working arc moves from archaeological discovery to deep-time continuity, civilization-scale systems, and eventual entry onto the wider galactic stage.

The story

The Archive
Beyond Collapse

The Latheons reached Earth roughly 600,000 years ago. By about 580,000 BP they had established a mature civilization here—mostly above ground—while their planetary sensing slowly converged on a coming geophysical catastrophe.

Roughly a millennium before the sealing event, selected cities, archives, infrastructure, and continuity populations began a staged migration underground. Around 500,000 BP the refuges sealed. Their citizens did not become simple uploads: some persisted through continuity-preserving coupling into engineered living-field substrates.

In the modern era, an earthquake reopens a route beneath the Guadalupe Mountains. RF, EMI, radiation, and timing anomalies draw a scientific expedition toward what will become known as Refuge Node Alpha.

Connected worlds

Different minds. A shared universe.

Temple Machines eventually touches civilizations whose histories, bodies, scales, and technologies developed along radically different paths.
