Expanded Pitch
The tribunal of impossible histories
The Retrieved have begun building new lives. Their testimony should confirm the histories preserved in Concordium archives. Instead, small discrepancies emerge: phrases remembered by no surviving culture, rescue symbols appearing before the Rescue Corps existed, and records that describe observers who were never assigned to the mission.
At first the anomalies look like archive noise, translation error, or trauma. Then multiple eras report the same pattern.
A tribunal forms to investigate whether the Concordium’s doctrine of minimal intervention has ever been true. JANUS can authenticate the records but cannot explain their origin. The Human Witness delegation suspects a cover-up. Explorer factions claim the anomalies are signals from the sanctioned extragalactic missions. A sealed record reveals the most dangerous fact of all: five vessels were authorized to leave the Milky Way. Six departed.
The sixth went to Andromeda.
