The End of Eternity
A psychological science-fiction adaptation built around institutional time management, moral compromise, and the emotional cost of correcting human history. The screen version treats Eternity less as a gadget and more as a sterile empire outside time: offices, corridors, observation rooms, archives, and technicians who believe they are saving civilization by quietly editing whole lives out of existence. The hook is the collision between a man trained to erase consequences and a woman who forces him to see that consequence is the engine of humanity. The adaptation should lean into suspense rather than spectacle at first: closed rooms, restricted knowledge, altered timelines, forbidden attachment, and the creeping realization that a perfect future may be a dead future. The cinematic spine is simple: one loyal functionary discovers that the system he serves may be humanity’s most elegant prison. The emotional question is stronger than the time mechanics: what is a civilization worth if it survives by amputating every dangerous dream before it can grow?
